Tying a Stimulator (Adult Stonefly)

This classic dry fly imitates a large adult stonefly. The combination of the elk hair tail and wing along with the two hackles allow this fly to float well — even in swifter flows. Additionally, its larger profile lends itself well to an angler tracking it through faster currents. The size and bugginess of this fly has the ability to coax out the big ones which have been waiting for the right size morsel to drift by. Enjoy!
